Medieval Pork Pie

If you like sweet pork - then this is a must try dish.

1 1/2 pounds ground pork (or a pork steak cut into bit sized pieces)
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 egg yolks
2 teaspoons ginger
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup dried currants (use cranberries or raisins if you can't find currents)
1/2 cup dried dates  (use cranberries, figs or raisins if you can't find dates)
1 9-in pie pan or use 4 of the smaller pie pans

Preheat oven to 375.

Brown the pork in a skillet over medium heat until the meat is fully cooked. Remove from heat. Let it cool a bit then mix with the currants and dates. Mix in the salt, pepper, ginger, egg yolks and honey.
Place the mixture in your prepared pie shell then top it with your top crust. Seal the edges of the pie crust(s). Make slit holes in the top crust for venting. Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour or until golden brown.
